At some point in the past year manufacturers (thankfully) came the conclusion that perhaps these smartwatches need to look like watches first, and wrist computers second. That particularly rings true for the Gear S2. Gone is the rigidity of Samsung's previous watches, and what's left is something that's more akin to a high-end fitness-type watch in the Gear S2 proper, and something a little more fashion-friendly in the Gear S2 Classic.

Yep, we've got two models — OK, three if you could the upcoming 3G-capable model of the Gear S2 — of what for all intents and purposes are the same smartwatch. All versions of the Gear S2 sport a 1.2-inch AMOLED display — properly round — with a 360x360 resolution for 302 pixels per inch. And it looks gorgeous, as you'd expect, topping even the excellent P-AMOLED displays that LG's been using. The display is ringed by a bezel that also serves as a way to navigate through the Gear S2's extensive-but-simple menu system. Turn left to go left/up, right to go right/down. The Classic has more traditional lugs where the strap connects. The Gear S2 proper sees the bands meeting the body itself, but they're still removable. If you're a fan of metal or leather straps or a more traditional look, you're going to want to go Classic. If you want a watch gear more towards an active lifestyle, you'll want to go Gear 2 proper.

It's hard to say too much about the overall thinness and weight of the Gear S2. I'm coming from the LG Watch Urbane, which actually is just a smidge thinner, but I've also been wearing a metal band with it. But the Gear S2 knocks off 9 grams of weight (for a total of 47 grams), and the even-lighter (and just a tiny bit smaller) Classic takes things down 16 grams from the Urbane to a total of 42 grams. Point is, it's noticeable in any event.

Samsung will launch the Z3 in India, Bangladesh, and Nepal, and it will have better specifications than the Z1. As we’ve reported earlier, the Z3 will feature a 5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, an 8-megapixel primary camera with AF, a 5-megapixel secondary camera, Tizen 3.0 operating system, a 1.3GHz quad-core Spreadtrum SC7730S processor, 1.5GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage space, a microSD card slot, and a 2,600 mAh battery.

Since the Samsung Z3 (SM-Z300H) will come with a newer version of Tizen, we believe that it will come with new and improved software features. We don’t exactly know what those new features might be, and we hope that we will get a clear idea during the official announcement of the device. This dual-SIM smartphone will compete with entry-level Android smartphones from brands like Xiaomi, Lenovo, Motorola, and a lot of other home-grown smartphone brands from the Indian sub-continent.

Samsung has initiated rollout of the Android 5.1.1 update to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in India. The update increments the firmware version on the Galaxy S6 variant sold in the country (SM-G920I) to G920IDVU2COF8, and the Galaxy S6 edge (SM-G925I) to G925IDVU2COF8.

The update brings the ability to alphabetically sort apps, new exposure controls and shooting modes in the camera app and Guest Mode. You can also remove S Finder and Quick Connect shortcuts from the quick-settings drop-down.

Samsung Galaxy A8 will feature a 16-megapixel camera with f/1.9 aperture and Real-Time HDR

According to the brochure, the Galaxy A8 (SM-A800S) will feature a 5.7-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, an octa-core processor (probably a Snapdragon 615), 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, a microSD card slot (up to 128GB), and a 3,050 mAh battery. Other specifications include a new 16-megapixel primary camera sensor with f/1.9 aperture and Real-Time HDR similar to the camera in the Galaxy S6, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

This particular variant of the Galaxy A8 features LTE (Cat. 6), VoLTE, and DMB. A 5.9 mm, it will be the thinnest smartphone from Samsung yet. It will also feature a newer version of TouchWiz that will be running on top of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. This brochure doesn’t reveal any detail about its pricing or launch date, but we will report it as soon as Samsung announces it officially.

After making a poor first impression in India since its launch in January, the Samsung Z1 seems to be doing reasonably well. Samsung India Electronics on Tuesday announced that it has sold a 'record' 1 million units of the Tizen-powered smartphone in the country.

The company added it managed to achieve this milestone in less than six months since the launch. Samsung Z1 is the company's first smartphone to run on its Tizen operating system. The company has previously used the operating system on its Gear smartwatches, and televisions.

Samsung had first unveiled a Tizen-based smartphone in June, the Samsung Z, but never did release it in its launch market in Russia - saying it was indefinitely postponed.

Some of the advantages Samsung Z1 gets using the lightweight Tizen OS is a fast boot time, quick access to apps, and fast browser performance using compression. Also featured is a built-in SOS alert system that enables users to reach out for help by pressing the power button four times. The Z1 comes with a private mode to keep sensitive user content away from prying eyes, and a preloaded antivirus.

"Our insights have shown that consumers hesitate to move beyond the familiar basic and simple interaction with their mobile devices. Keeping this in mind, Samsung Z1 features an easy to use UI that offers a smooth and fast experience to ensure a seamless migration to smartphones. Samsung Z1 combines a great feature set along with a rapidly growing app ecosystem to offer consumers a differentiated Smartphone experience. We are happy to see the response the device has received and will continue to grow the range for Tizen- powered smartphones," said Asim Warsi, Vice-President-Marketing, Mobile and IT, Samsung India.

Galaxy A8 : A 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with an octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor hooked up to 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It will also have a 16-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front camera, a 3,050mAh battery, touch based fingerprint sensor all in a metallic frame that’s 5.9 mm thin and runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop straight out of the box. The Galaxy A8 hands on video that has been posted online gives us a good look at the Galaxy A8 and some of its features like the camera. Samsung has not yet officially announced this device but it’s very likely that the company will have much to say about it in the very near future.

Here’s what is possible with RAW image capture on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge

Well, if you have knowledge of Photoshop and other image editing tools, there’s quite a lot you can do. RAW images are unprocessed images that don’t suffer from the artifacts and quality reduction introduced when an image is saved in the standard JPG format, and as you can see in the image below, you can change a lot of parameters to make the end result look much better/different than normal.

Again, editing RAW images and getting something useful requires you to know your way around Photoshop. If you have the requisite skills, it’s easy to see the advantages RAW image capture can provide; it’s too bad Samsung hasn’t yet updated its camera app to offer the option to the end user, but we’re hoping the company will get around to that in a software update for the S6 devices in the future.

Motorola's third-generation Moto G has allegedly been spotted in a hands-on video. The video also shows some purported specifications of the Moto G (Gen 3) via benchmark results.

It shows the handset in full glory. The front of the Moto G (Gen 3) looks largely similar to the second-generation Moto G(seen above) while the changes are apparent on the rear.

The Moto G (Gen 3) is seen sporting a textured back panel and a LG-like strip near the rear camera. The sides also seem unchanged from the previous generation; though images hint that it might be slimmer. According to purported benchmark results seen in the video, the Moto G (Gen 3) will feature a 5-inch display. It is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM, which might be disappointing considering majority of smartphones launching around current Moto G price feature 2GB of RAM.

There is 8GB built-in storage and comes with microSD card slot support. The smartphone is likely to run Android 5.1.1 out-of-the-box. Many geeks claimed that the Moto G (Gen 3) supports LTE - though this may just be a variant like with previous generations.

The third-generation Motorola Moto G might sport a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera, which is definite upgrade from 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front camera seen on the current generation.

PhoneArena has now come out with the results of a blind camera test they conducted some time back, where they lined up photographs taken with Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and Apple’s iPhone 6 and asked their readers to vote on which ones they liked the best. Of course, to maintain objectivity, readers were not told which photograph was clicked with which phone. While the end results might be what is expected from the android masses, what wasn’t, was the margin. The Android flag-bearer Galaxy S6 as it turns out, topped each of the six scenes by a wide margin, and received around 90% of all votes cast, garnering a massive 27,063 votes, compared to only 3,033 votes cast for the iPhone 6.

Looking at the photographs side-by-side, it isn’t hard to fathom why the result has turned out the way it has, seeing as the photos taken with the Galaxy S6 consistently looks sharper, brighter and more vivid in their color reproduction. While most of the images were clicked outdoors in natural light, the most telling images were perhaps the two photographs of a row of bottles in what looks like a bar. The photographs were clicked indoors in artificial light, and the image captured by the Galaxy S6 camera just looks that much brighter with more details and less noise. Because there’s no mention of the settings used to click the images, we’ll have to assume both the cameras were set to their default auto settings. In papers filed with the court Samsung’s lawyers argue that “Unlike rugs, spoons, and simple mechanical objects, smartphones incorporate hundreds or thousands of different patented technologies, and it is undisputed here that Apple’s design patents claim only partial, minor features of such devices.” No comment by Apple as yet on this latest legal move from Samsung but we can expect the company to fight till the very end to receive the damages it feels itself entitled to.

New Version Of XIAOMI Mi 4i 16GB To Hit The Market

Xiaomi India, soon after slashing price of the Mi 4 64GB model, has now announced the same for the 16GB model, making the smartphone Rs. 5,000 cheaper than its launch price.

The Xiaomi Mi 4 16GB variant will be available now at a price of Rs. 14,999, down from its most recent price tag of Rs. 17,999. To recall, the smartphone was launched in January this year at Rs. 19,999 and was initially available via the company's flash sale model. The Chinese company however by end of February started selling the Mi 4 16GB in India via Flipkart without registration. The Mi 4 (Review | Pictures) received its first price cut of Rs. 2,000 back in April that brought down the prices to Rs. 17,999 for the 16GB model.

Xiaomi India announced the price cut to commemorate 10 million Mi 4 units sold worldwide. The new prices were effective 9pm IST starting Wednesday and the smartphone can be grabbed now via Flipkart and Mi.com. The company alongside promised that the Mi 4 will be available at new price via other online and offline partners soon.

The price cut definitely brings down the Mi 4 to sub-Rs. 15,000 category but it also brings it around the Mi 4i, which is currently selling at Rs. 12,999. The new price of the Mi 4 however undercuts the 16GB Silk White OnePlus One (Review | Pictures) which is available at Rs. 18,999. Perhaps in a bid to counter the Mi 4 16GB price cut, OnePlus also dropped the price of the 64GB Sandstone Black variant in India for a day, to Rs. 19,998 (a cut of Rs. 2,000).

Recently, OnePlus announced a permanent price cut of $50 and EUR 50 on its One smartphone in the US and eligible European countries. Unfortunately, the price cut was not applicable in the Indian market.

The Mi 4 64GB price was slashed last week, and is available now via Flipkart at its reduced price of Rs. 19,999, down from the Rs. 23,999 launch price.

Hugo Barra, Vice President of Xiaomi Global, also showcased various products such as Mi Selfie stick alongside drones and remote control cars that could be controlled by the Mi 4 smartphone.
